Another important part of this is to get all of the professional landscapers to switch to electric equipment. I heard that there are legislative initiatives to do this. But maybe you can talk to your local landscaper and see if they are open to making this change, or if perhaps some of their customers can band together and help make it worthwhile to switch.

There is progress in banning gas-powered leaf blowers. See

At least one city (Evanston IL) has a fund to help landscapers switch to electric equipment.

Betsy suggested that I comment on her post, so here I am.

I have gardening power tool range anxiety. This started when I bought a battery blower last fall. It came with one battery and a charger. The blower worked fine, but in turbo mode (which I needed because of my many oak leaves), the blower would only last 15 minutes on a charge. My front yard needs an hour of blowing at least to clear it. Instead of giving up, I bought another battery, although I could not afford an OEM battery and went with a cheap Chinese knock-off from Amazon. It worked, but the new battery was not enough. Now I could blow about 1/2 an hour, but it then took 2+ hours to charge. So I bought a third battery. In the end I spent far more than I expected and while I can just about do my front yard, I still have to call the solution sub-optimal.

So, I can't imagine what would happen if I decided to get a battery mower. My entire garage would be filled with batteries.

I asked David to comment here because we went to discuss what works and what doesn’t and why. I’m much happier with my electric mower than my gas one but I have a smaller yard. There are plenty of ways to “go green” and some will work for you and some won’t, and let’s discuss that here! And no, I’m not going over to your house with my mower😬
